Sometimes I need a little bit of extra motivation.
You’re working on big things. By definition, you’re not going to succeed overnight. You’re not even going to succeed in a month.
So, how do you keep going?
How do you keep pushing when your reward is over the horizon? When you can’t see it yet. When all you can see in front of you is the struggle?
I’ve always loved this Michael Jordan commercial.
I watch it whenever I think about quitting. I dare you to click play.
Look me in the eye.
It’s ok if you’re scared. So am I.
But we’re scared for different reasons.
I’m scared of what I won’t become.
And you’re scared of what I could become.
Look at me.
I won’t let myself end where I started.
I won’t let myself finish where I began.
I know what is within me.
Even if you can’t see it yet.
Look me in the eyes.I have something more important than courage.
I have patience.
I will become what I know I am.
– Michael Jordan
Now, go become what you already know you are.
Share what keeps you going in the comments.

Wow! Never seen that ad – and love it – so many of the posts and articles I read about this topic (persevering) are about stepping over failures to reach success – which I believe in. But this one shifts things to reveal a more subtle, poetic, and powerful path – one that is about being patient and fully becoming what we already ARE. Love it- thanks.
