The Most Important Thing I’ve Learned

Today is my 30th birthday, which means I’m feeling especially reflective today. Instead of telling you 30 things you never knew about me, I’m only going to tell you one thing. πŸ˜‰

I’ve been thinking about everything I’ve done in that my life so far, and feeling really grateful. I’m also realizing that happiness mostly comes down to priorities.

I just wanted to share the lesson that stands out theΒ  most. It might be the most important thing I’ve ever learned. It’s certainly made all the difference in my life.

This is it:
Your life is made up of time, not space. So fill your life accordingly. I promise that having adventures and new experiences will make you feel richer than any material possession ever could. Never ever stop exploring.

On that note, I’m taking the rest of the day off to go have adventures that will make me smile.

What I really want for my birthday is for you find some time to do the same.

Happy birthday John! Great reminder here, and I agree, the experiences are really what matter. It’s so easy to lose sight of that. Have a fantastic 30th, I still remember mine like it was yesterday. I went bowling with a bunch of friends. A perfect day in my book.

Thanks Corbett! That does sound like a perfect day. Despite what Chase says. πŸ™‚

Birthday boy! (Please have a better birthday than just “bowling with friends.” That sounds terrible).

    Happy Birthday, John!

I just granted your birthday wish and got on a plane and won’t be home for 10 weeks. πŸ˜‰

I couldn’t agree more with you. Here’s wishing you a fantastic year–and decade!

    Best,
    Bradley

John–Happy Belated 30th! It’s a big one for sure. Unlike Corbett, I don’t remember mine like it was yesterday, but I sure wish I could say I did :). You strike me as older and wiser than 30, then again, most guys are not as insightful as you.

I couldn’t agree more with your statement that life is made up of time. We have a finite amount of time every day and yes–it’s about filling up those moments with experiences, big and small.

I’ll have (four) slices of chocolate birthday cake in your honor.

I hope it’s your best year yet, John!
